Smart fortwo 2009- car2go set to Debut in Texas

2009 Smart fortwo - car2go set to Debut in Texas car2go for all: 200 good reasons for rediscovering city driving Ulm drives smart by the minute: from now on innovative mobility concept available to the public and on a 24/7 basis Enlarged: rental car fleet with 200 smart fortwo cdi Internationalization: car2go starts in Austin, Texas, in the fall Stuttgart / Ulm – Good reasons for rediscovering city driving can now be found literally on every corner in Ulm. Daimler AG sees to it with car2go – its new mobility concept that makes driving a car as easy as using a mobile phone. Following the successful completion of the internal pilot phase, car2go with a fleet of 200 smart fortwo cdi is available from now on to all registered residents and visitors to Ulm – every day, around the clock, and at low rates. From Ulm, car2go goes straight to the international level, to the USA: Daimler plans to launch car2go in Austin, Texas, this autumn. "The very promising results of the first, internal pilot phase in Ulm show that with car2go we have found another answer to current and future mobility needs in metropolitan areas. Our project in Austin is the next logical step," says Dr. Thomas Weber, member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG responsible for Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development. With car2go, on 24 October 2008 in Ulm Daimler AG kicked off a pilot project for a new, flexible and environmentally compatible form of mobility concept of the city. car2go is another important element of the Daimler strategy on the road to sustainable mobility. The principle is as simple as can be: whenever a car is needed, it can be rented spontaneously in passing out on the street, or it can be pre-booked via mobile phone or internet. The car then can be used as long as one likes, and can be returned to any unoccupied public parking space within the area of operation. The cost structure is clear and the use is simple: the 19 euro cents charged per minute covers taxes, insurance, mileage and even fuel. There are low rates for rental by the hour or day: 9.90 euros per hour or 49 euros per day. Sole condition for use is one-time free registration as a customer and a valid driver's license, to which a small seal is affixed. Once a person registers, he or she can open any car2go by means of a card reader placed behind the windshield. From inside to outside In the first pilot phase that began last October with 50 smart fortwo, some 500 employees of the Daimler Research Center in Ulm, plus 200 family members, participated as test drivers. The aim was to test the technical systems and gather initial experience with acceptance, user behavior, and effort for service in practical operation. Robert Henrich, responsible project manager at Daimler AG, sums up: "The success of the first pilot phase surprised even us and shows how much importance already is attached to forward-looking mobility concepts today. In just two weeks more than 500 customers had registered with car2go – a number we had not anticipated. Sometimes I could see from my office window how employees sprinted to the parking lot after work to get a car2go before they were all gone." Their enthusiasm and the interest of the people of Ulm persist. In peak periods the entire fleet of 50 smart fortwo was being used to full capacity and could have been greatly expanded based on the user demand. Since the start, 8,000 rentals have been registered, and per day as many as eight customers have used one and the same vehicle. Without exception user feedback was positive, and users were surprised how easy the system works in practice. The per-minute charging also was felt to be very customer-friendly. Moreover, from the beginning the project met with national and international interest. In the meantime numerous inquiries have been received from cities all over the world that also would like to offer car2go to their residents. As intermediate step, in February the clientele was extended to include the employees of the Mercedes-Benz sales and service outlet Ulm/Neu-Ulm and the local Daimler subsidiary EvoBus. In line with this the number of car2go vehicles was raised to 100. This increased the overall number of car2go users to more than 1,000. The successful start has encouraged all parties to take the next step: today begins the public testing phase in Ulm, in which car2go is available to all 120,000 residents and people visiting the city. For this purpose the car2go fleet is being doubled to 200 vehicles. "From the outset we saw car2go as an absolute enrichment and a great opportunity for the science city Ulm. The city profits tremendously from the public interest in car2go, and we hope to reduce the traffic load especially in the downtown streets and parking areas," says Ulm's mayor Ivo Gönner. Everybody interested can immediately register in the internet at www.car2go.com or at the registration office in the Ulm city hall, right next door to Ulm cathedral. Here they also get the car2go seal for their driver's license. Internationalization – from Ulm to Austin The pilot project in the southern German city of Ulm will not be the only one – from the start the concept was planned for international use. Whereas in Ulm the purpose is to test the general acceptance of the concept and stabilize the technical systems, the second pilot project is designed to generate know-how for the international use of car2go. The demands include applicability to other cities, language regions and mobility trends as well as adaptation of the business processes to the legal requirements in other countries. Jérome Guillen, director of the Business Innovation department at Daimler that developed the car2go concept comments: "We deliberately chose a large American city. In the USA the car sharing market has the highest growth rates in the world. For this reason we see very good chances of success there for car2go, especially because car2go offers many advantages over the known car sharing offers." For instance, car2go is distinguished by free availability of the vehicles in the city area without obligation to use certain parking spaces, on-the-spot rental for as long as one likes, as well as a simple and clear price structure. The capital of Texas with its 750,000 residents is appreciably bigger than Ulm and is distinguished by its open-mindedness and its very involved citizens. "We very much look forward to becoming the first international partner of car2go," says mayor Will Wynn. "Our city is known for its strong sense of environmental responsibility. car2go fits this wonderfully because we can then offer the residents of Austin an intelligent mobility concept with a high positive environmental factor. The project has our full support." As in the first phase of the German pilot project, car2go will begin in Austin with a defined group of users, for example city employees. It is then planned to make car2go accessible to the public in Austin in a second step. Other factors predestining Austin to be the first international car2go city are the city's size and its up-to-date economic structure. Among other things it is the location of the fourth largest university in the USA. Beginning in autumn 2009 a fleet expected to number 200 smart fortwo mhd vehicles with automatic start/stop function will be put into operation there.

2009 Dodge Challenger Eibach Driven by Vin Diesel to Premiere

2009 Dodge Challenger Eibach Driven by Vin Diesel to Premiere Dodge Challenger with "Diesel" The "Fast & Furious" star drives to a VIP film premiere in the Eibach Muscle Car On March 17th, in the German City of Bochum, the suspension specialists from Eibach presented the first German Dodge Challenger with "Diesel" on board. We are, of course, not talking about a new engine but the US actor of the same name "Vin Diesel", the hero of Fast & Furious - New Model. Original parts. Vin, who in the fourth part of the tuning saga again plays the role of the high-speed junky Dom Toretto, drove up at the official VIP pre-premiere true to style in the sonorous Eibach Muscle Car. "Nice car" he said appreciatively, having driven the 425HP V8 up to the red carpet amongst the screams of the fans. The agility of the power car, which is due to the built-in Eibach Coil-Over Suspension System, impresses even more than its sheer torque. Anyone who was unable to be there live can see the video at www.eibach.de of the arrival of the star on the red carpet at the UCI cinema in Bochum. If you prefer to see the Challenger face to face, you have the opportunity to do so after the official German launch of the film on April 2nd. Until then the Dodge, which can really start a party with its multimedia upgrade from Alpine Electronics, is on a tour of nine popular discos and clubs across Germany. Alongside the two afore-mentioned partners, the tyre specialists from Toyo Tires are also joining in, even though the smoke on the dancefloor is more likely to come from smoke machines than the tyres. Besides, a further highlight is the imposing show truck of the three companies which can be admired. This should ensure that the presentation quickly gets its "engine started".

2009 Audi TT RS to Debut at AMI Leipzig

2009 Audi TT RS to Debut at AMI Leipzig Audi at AMI Leipzig: exhibit to include world premieres Audi shows the Audi TT RS Roadster for the first time German premieres for the Audi A4 allroad quattro, Audi A5 Cabriolet, S5 Cabriolet and Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro Show cars: Audi A1 Sportback concept and Audi A4 TDI concept e Visitors to AMI Leipzig 2009 will witness the world premiere of the Audi TT RS Roadster at the Audi exhibition stand at the Leipzig Motor Show, Hall 1. In the second quarter of 2009, Audi will add more building blocks to its modular efficiency kit, including an on-board computer with efficiency program and the start-stop system. The start-stop system reduced consumption in a standardized driving cycle by 0.2 liters/100 km (0.05 mpg), or 5 grams of CO2 per kilometer (8.05 g per mile). The system is being used for the first time in all of the new A5 Cabriolet models that have a 2-liter engine – TDI or TFSI – combined with a manual transmission. It will be added to more models during the course of the year, including the Audi A4 allroad quattro. Visitors will also be able to view the Audi A3 1.4 TFSI with start-stop system at the exhibition stand. The on-board computer with efficiency program displays all consumption-relevant data in the center console, offering potential savings of up to 30 percent. The Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro will be exhibited for the first time in Germany at the AMI Leipzig. The 10-cylinder engine of the R8 generates 525 hp (386 kW), making it possible to go from 0 to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in just 3.9 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 316 km/h (196.35 mph). Top Audi technology like the quattro drive system, the lightweight aluminum body and all-LED headlights – the first of their kind used in series production – make the R8 a technological forerunner in its segment. The most efficient member of Audi’s high-volume A3 model line will also be on display at the AMI Leipzig: the Audi A3 1.9 TDI e. To achieve average consumption of 4.5 liters (52.27 mpg) and thus a CO2 level of 119 grams per kilometer (191.51 g/mile) and a range of more than 1,000 kilometers per full tank (621.37 miles), changes made to the A3 1.9 TDI included adjustment of the transmission ratios. The gearshift indicator shows which gear is the best choice. In addition, with the Audi A6 2.0 TDI e and Audi A8 2.8 FSI, Audi is exhibiting two more e models that set the pace in their segment when it comes to consumption. Audi is working tirelessly on further reducing consumption and emissions. The groundbreaking Audi A4 TDI concept e, with its innovative technical concept, delivers the agile handling Audi is known for while consuming an average of just 3.99 liters of fuel per 100 kilometer (58.95 mpg), which corresponds to CO2 emissions of just 105 g/km (168.98 g/mile). The drive system of the Audi A4 TDI concept e is a direct-injection TDI with 120 hp (88 kW). The Audi stand will also feature the Audi A1 Sportback concept show car, a compact five-door four-seater. The car, which is 3.99 meters long and 1.75 meters wide (13.09 feet long by 5.74 feet wide), combines trendsetting dynamic styling with optimized space efficiency and superb quality. Under the hood, there’s a 1.4 liter TFSI 150 hp (110 kW) engine that powers the front wheels via S tronic. A 27 hp (20kW) electric motor integrated into the drive train delivers up to 150 Nm of additional torque when accelerating. To mark its 100th anniversary, the brand with the four-ring logo will also be exhibiting historic cars in Leipzig. Construction of the 1938 Auto Union Silver Arrow Type D took four years. The original version of the car won two Grand Prix races in its heyday. The Audi 920, which generated 75 hp, will also be on display at the exhibition stand. With its 6-cylinder in-line engine, this car made a splash as a powerful and sporty midsize car when it was first sold in December 1938. Audi will also be showing the A8 with an exclusive interior and design package. The Audi A8’s comfort plus style package features Night Blue, pearl effect exterior paint, 12-spoke forged aluminum wheels, adaptive light with LED daytime driving lights, Valcona leather seat covers and Fine Nappa full-leather interiors, front and rear seat heating, and front seat air conditioning combined with massage function. The Audi product program also includes the Audi sport plus style package with all-new Panther Black crystal effect paint, which was developed especially for the Audi A8. The Aston Martin V8 Vantage is a supreme example of modern automotive design, a hand-crafted sports car that offers exceptional performance, outstanding agility and everyday usability.
At the heart of every great sports car is a great engine, and the V8 Vantage Coupe and Roadster are powered by Aston Martin’s 313 kW (420 bhp) 4.7-litre V8, developed for both flexibility and outright performance. The V8 also sounds spectacular and is capable of propelling the car to a maximum speed of 290 km/h (180 mph).

Design

The V8 Vantage is one of the world’s most beautiful cars: elegant, yet with a controlled aggression; perfectly proportioned, with a low, purposeful stance; modern, yet incorporating classic Aston Martin design cues. A stunning example of design purity, the V8 Vantage is, above all, instantly recognisable as an Aston Martin.
The long, low bonnet line and two-seater cabin provide the perfect balance between beauty and sporting intent. The V8 Vantage sits low and close to the road, while the front and rear overhangs have been purposely minimised. The side profile forms a simple sweep, a curved line like a bow under tension, while the rear haunches are wide and muscular, like the flanks of a powerful animal.
From the outset, Aston Martin’s engineers and designers focused on reducing size and weight, as well as optimising weight distribution, to maximise agility. At just 4380 mm (172.5 inches) long, not only is the V8 Vantage the smallest model in the Aston Martin range, but it also benefits from the inherent agility that accompanies compact design and excellent weight distribution.
Performance

The V8 Vantage offers superb all-round performance and, like all Aston Martins, delivers some impressive statistics: 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.9 seconds and a potential maximum speed of 290 km/h (180 mph).
Such figures do not tell the whole story, however, for the V8 Vantage represents the epitome of design and engineering excellence, most notably through the use of lightweight materials, excellent weight distribution, efficient aerodynamics and a truly remarkable engine. Aston Martin’s 4.7-litre V8 is hand-assembled at the company’s purpose-built engine facility in Cologne, Germany. A light, compact, all-alloy unit, it provides high performance, yet is responsive even at the lower end of the rev range. At 5750 rpm, the engine delivers maximum torque of 470 Nm (346 lb ft), 77 per cent of which is delivered at just 1500 rpm – barely more than idle – making the cars extremely tractable and great fun to drive. Push harder, and the V8 revs freely, delivering refined, exhilarating pace.
Control

The V8 Vantage delivers superb, responsive handling. Aston Martin’s unique all-alloy VH (Vertical Horizontal) architecture provides an excellent backbone, while the use of lightweight alloys, magnesium and advanced composites reduces body weight and creates class-leading rigidity.
The car’s natural agility is also aided by a low polar moment of inertia and excellent weight distribution. Engineered to accommodate as much weight as possible within the wheelbase, the V8 Vantage has minimal front and rear overhangs. The engine is positioned well behind the front axle line, just ahead of the cabin, creating what is effectively a front mid-engined car. Dry sump lubrication enables the engine to sit lower in the car, dropping the centre of gravity and preventing cornering G-forces from restricting oil supply to the engine.
Engineering
The V8 Vantage is inherently taut and agile. Its all-alloy structure creates an immensely strong passenger cell, and further protection is provided by deformable front and rear crumple zones designed to absorb crash energy. Excellent side impact protection is also inbuilt, thanks to the large sills, strong roof pillars, door impact beams and the substantial dashboard and footwell structures. Both driver and passenger benefit from dual-stage airbags (deployed in one of two stages, depending on the severity of the accident) and side airbags. The mid-mounted aluminium-encased fuel cell is not only safe but also improves balance and handling.
Craftmanship

Starting an Aston Martin is a moment to savour. Sit behind the three-spoke steering wheel and set the multi-position, electrically adjustable seats. Feel the quality of the hand-stitched leather rim and sense the intuitive layout of the primary controls.
The driver’s first interaction with the powerful V8 engine is a blend of tradition and high technology, with a touch of theatre. The ignition is controlled by a stainless steel and glass ECU (Emotion Control Unit), designed to be as tactile and refined as a fine timepiece. The ECU is inserted into a special docking station set within the traditional clear glass starter button. Pressing the ECU fully into the starter button fires the engine. After pressing once again to stop the engine, the ECU rises slowly out of its slot within the button so that it can be removed.
The instrument pack is carefully crafted from aluminium and has a three-dimensional profile for easy reading. To maintain a clear, simple design, with the warning lights hidden behind the aluminium mesh faces, becoming visible only when illuminated. The central message displays use organic electroluminescence (OEL) – a process pioneered by Aston Martin – making them easier to read than conventional LCDs.

Vantage GT4

Aston Martin Racing has released the 2009 specification Vantage GT4 based on Aston Martin’s new 4.7 litre V8 Vantage. The new Vantage GT4 builds on the success of its predecessor, the 4.3 litre Vantage N24.
The Vantage GT4 has been under development for six months and was unveiled in Dubai this week by Aston Martin chairman, David Richards, and tested extensively at the Dubai Autodrome.
The car is an evolution of the N24 with the larger capacity engine being more responsive with increased torque throughout the rev range. The suspension has also been retuned to enhance the handling, including modified front uprights to give increased camber. The 2009 Vantage GT4 also has larger front brake discs with revised cooling.
“In the last two years, the N24 has proved to be one of the most successful cars in its class; winning the Nurburgring 24 Hours this year, as well as several FIA GT4 races,” said David Richards. “We have built on this success to develop the Vantage GT4, a competitive racing car for professional and semi-professional drivers, but also a forgiving car which will appeal to enthusiasts who wish to use it for track days and club racing.”
The Vantage GT4 is built to FIA GT4 regulations and is eligible to compete in the following series: FIA GT4 European Cup; British GT4 Championship; Britcar Endurance Series; German GT4 Championship; Dutch Supercar Challenge; Dutch GT4 Championship; VLN Endurance Championship at the Nurburgring; Australian Endurance Championship; the American SCCA Championship; and the Aston Martin Owners Club Race Series.
The Vantage GT4 comes with either a manual transmission or sportshift transmission. It is priced from £96,645 and is available to order now with delivery in January 2009.
Aston Martin Racing is now the only manufacturer to produce cars in each of the GT classes: GT1, GT2, GT3 and GT4.
The GT4 is based on the latest 4.7 litre V8 Vantage and is hand built by Aston Martin Racing.
The 4.7 litre eight cylinder engine has an engine management system recalibrated for race use. It also has a free flow exhaust system and air filters, and the standard V8 dry sump lubrication system is retained, helping to prevent oil surge during cornering.
The Vantage GT4 can be supplied with either a six speed manual, or a Sportshift transmission with paddle controls. Both versions have a Valeo twin-plate cerametallic racing clutch and lightweight flywheel to complete the powertrain specification.
At 1,330 kg the Vantage GT4 is 300 kg lighter than the standard car. This has been achieved through a range of weight reduction measures. The interior trim is removed with the exception of the facia moulding, which is re-trimmed in Alcantara, and the console and door casings are replaced by new lightweight mouldings.
The chassis has been fitted with a high-strength steel rollcage and Recaro competition seats. A suede-trimmed steering wheel with a quick release mechanism is also fitted as standard. The Vantage GT4’s safety features are completed with a Sabelt sixpoint safety harness with a push-button release and Lifeline Zero 360 gas extinguisher system.
The V8 Vantage road car’s suspension has required only minor adjustments for optimal track performance. These include larger diameter front and rear anti-roll bars and adjustable ride height aluminium dampers, as well as single rate, flat ground springs with separate helper springs. The front subframe is modified for extra camber and castor. Cast magnesium front and rear wheels are standard fit with high performance Yokohama A048-R tyres. The brakes are uprated with Pagid RS 29 race pads.
As further endorsement of the standard V8 Vantage underframe, the active safety systems are directly carried over to the Vantage GT4, including: dynamic stability control, traction control, ABS and electronic brakeforce distribution, providing reassurance and enhanced control in slippery conditions.

DB9

The Aston Martin DB9 is a thoroughbred sports car with GT levels of comfort and refinement. Combining Aston Martin’s unique character with an uncompromising design philosophy, the DB9 was borne out of a synthesis of traditional craftsmanship, high-tech manufacturing, modern components and use of the finest materials.
The DB9 is both a full-blooded sports car and a hugely capable grand tourer. Whether in Coupe or Volante form, it offers a supreme combination of driver involvement, character, luxury and refinement.
Power, Beauty and Soul

Beautifully styled, the DB9 never fails to stir the soul with its unique sound, power and performance. This purebred sports car is also a technical triumph, its beauty signifying aerodynamic efficiency, its power unencumbered by weight, its devastating straight-line performance paired with exquisite handling. All great sports cars strive to balance these qualities, and the DB9 creates an experience that is both unique and unforgettable. What the driver sees, hears and feels is in harmony. The reward is total involvement: a level of engagement that truly stimulates the senses, that re-ignites a passion for driving.
But an Aston Martin is also about luxury, indulgence and enjoyment – it is a feast for the senses. Sure enough, the magnificent exterior styling of the DB9 gives way to a sumptuous, comprehensively equipped cabin, trimmed in the finest materials. Every element is perfectly conceived, from the 6.0-litre V12, to the hand-stitched seats and carefully selected interior woods. Nothing is out of place
.
Design

No sports car manufacturer has a greater design heritage than Aston Martin. Responsible for some of the most beautiful sports cars ever made, Aston Martin imbues every model with understated elegance and graceful styling, achieved through harmonious proportions, taut surfacing, a ground-hugging stance and thorough attention to detail.
An Aston Martin is subtle, not attention-seeking. The coupe’s side profile is clean and distinctive, with a single-sweep roofline that flows through to a distinctive tail. Key Aston Martin design elements include the distinctive grille, metal side strakes, signature rear window shape and wide, curvaceous haunches.
Control

Great sports cars must handle superbly. They should respond quickly and predictably to driver commands; they should be nimble and agile. To achieve the low weight that is the starting point for such agility, all the DB9’s major body and mechanical components are made from either aluminium, magnesium alloy or advanced, lightweight, composite materials.
The front-to-rear weight distribution of the DB9 is a perfect 50:50, with 85% of the car’s mass sited between the front and rear axles. The aluminium V12 engine is mounted as far back as possible in a ‘front mid-engined’ layout. The compact aluminium transaxle housing the gearbox and final drive is positioned at the rear, forward of the rear axle.
Craftsmanship

The DB9 is elegant, luxurious and supremely comfortable. Its cabin is hand-trimmed in beautiful, natural materials – primarily wood and leather – and incorporates the latest in modern technology without resorting to superfluous controls or displays. There is a minimum of distraction – even the satellite navigation screen folds discreetly away when not in use.
Every element of the interior is hand-made and hand-finished, from the cutting of the leather to the carefully crafted wood. This is done not out of deference to tradition, but because a skilled craftsman can finish wood or leather to a far higher standard than any machine. The leather is particularly soft and supple, as you would expect of Aston Martin, and is used throughout the cabin.
Engineering

The DB9 is technologically sophisticated and meticulously engineered. Its development programme includes rigorous testing in locations as diverse as Nardo in Italy, Death Valley in the USA and inside the Arctic Circle in Sweden. In total, more than one million testing miles have been covered.
Design and engineering innovations include the organic electroluminescent displays (OEL) in the instrument pack and centre console, which provide greater clarity and resolution, as well as LED (light-emitting diode) rear lamps designed to project further and react more quickly than conventional systems

If you're looking for responsive performance in the most fuel-efficient mid-size sedan in America, the 2.5L Duratec I-4 engine with advanced features like intake variable cam timing technology is the way to go. It cranks out 175 horses and 172 lbs.-ft. of torque, while delivering EPA-estimated 23 City/34 Highway/27 Combined mpg. Pretty impressive!
The 3.0L Duratec V6 is equipped with variable-cam timing and flex-fuel (E-85) capability. Its 240 horsepower rating is up more than 19 horses over the previous 3.0L V6.
The 3.5L Duratec V6 generating 263 horsepower is the feature powerplant in the new Fusion Sport model, which also comes equipped with a modified sport-tuned suspension, 18-inch painted aluminum wheels, sport trim inside and out, Ford SYNC® Communications and Entertainment System, and much more.
And there's the all-new Fusion Hybrid. While so much attention is paid to its outstanding best-in-class fuel economy,† the 2.5L Atkinson-Cycle Hybrid I-4 system combines with the electric motor to generate 191 net horsepower rating, delivering the responsive power you need, when you need it.
*Based on EPA-estimated 23 City/34 Hwy/27 Combined mpg, Fusion S model, I-4 with automatic. Class is mid-size sedans. Actual mileage will vary.†EPA-estimated 41 City/36 Hwy mpg. Class is mid-size sedans. Actual mileage will vary.
By designing a transmission with more gears, engineers can calibrate its wider range of ratios to deliver more responsive acceleration at the low end and higher fuel economy at the high overdrive gear. In the case of the new Ford Fusion, Ford engineers used the 6-speed transmission to help achieve best-in-class fuel economy.*
All transmissions in Ford Fusion gas models now have six speeds. A 6-speed manual comes standard in the Fusion S and SE with the 2.5L Duratec I-4 engine, while the SEL I-4 model gets a smooth-shifting and quiet-operating 6-speed automatic (optional with S and SE).
V6-powered Fusion models feature the 6-speed SelectShift™ automatic transmission. You can override automatic operation and enjoy the fun-to-drive experience of a manual transmission, providing total control over gear selection and performance feel. The 2.5L Atkinson-Cycle Hybrid I-4 engine is teamed with an electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (eCVT). As its name suggests, this transmission is designed to provide seamless shifting because there is no progression of gear changes in the usual sense. What's more, because the eCVT can compensate for changing vehicle speeds, it allows engine speed to remain at its level of peak efficiency, helping make the Fusion Hybrid the most fuel-efficient hybrid sedan in its class.†
*Based on EPA-estimated 23 City/34 Hwy/27 Combined mpg, Fusion S model, I-4 with automatic. Class is mid-size sedans. Actual mileage will vary.†EPA-estimated 41 City/36 Hwy. Class is mid-size sedans. Actual mileage will vary.
Ford Fusion features a double-wishbone independent front suspension with stabilizer bar, a design commonly found in top-of-the-line sports and luxury cars. And Ford engineers made the best use of the multi-link independent rear suspension's design flexibility to deliver excellent ride quality and handling capability.
For the driving enthusiast who demands more power, and more handling agility, we've added the new Sport model to the exciting Fusion lineup. Modified sport-tuned suspension components bring the Fusion handling experience to an even higher dimension of driving enjoyment, to match the power of the 263-hp 3.5L 24-valve V6.
AdvanceTrac® ESC (Electronic Stability Control) automatically applies the brakes and modulates engine torque whenever it detects wheel slip, and helps avoid skidding and fishtailing by controlling understeer and oversteer. It also helps maintain more control under conditions such as ice, gravel or rain, providing more confident stopping power.
he V6-powered Fusion with class-exclusive* All-Wheel Drive (AWD) improves traction on any surface where wheel slip can occur, such as ice, snow, mud or gravel. It constantly monitors driving conditions and distributes engine torque to the wheels with the most traction. So if the front wheels are experiencing poor low-speed traction, AWD will automatically transfer most of the torque to the rear wheels or the wheels having the most traction. At highway speed, the AWD system automatically deactivates to help conserve fuel.
*Class is mid-size sedan.
These 18" painted aluminum wheels mounted on low-aspect-ratio P255/45VR18 tires are yours on the exciting new Fusion Sport. This unique tire/wheel set is linked to sport-tuned suspension components for a tight, sporty feel on the sharpest of corners.
An increase in power once meant a decrease in economy. Not anymore. Take the new 2010 mid-size Fusion. The 2.5L Duratec I-4 engine delivers higher power ratings of 175 horsepower and 172 lbs./ft. of torque. It also puts Fusion at the head of its class in fuel economy with EPA-estimated 23 City/34 Hwy/27 Combined mpg.*
And imagine getting 41 miles per gallon and being able to travel over 700 miles on a single tank of gas - in city traffic. That's the kind of mileage you can expect to achieve in an all-new Fusion Hybrid, the most fuel-efficient hybrid sedan in its class.†
No compromise - expect nothing less in a Ford Fusion.
*Based on EPA-estimated 23 City/34 Hwy/27 Combined mpg, Fusion S model, I-4 with automatic. Class is mid-size sedans. Actual mileage will vary.†EPA estimated 41 City/36 Hwy mpg. Class is mid-size sedan. Actual mileage will vary.
Fusion Hybrid propulsion is supplied by a combination of two sources: an electric motor powered by an innovative nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery, and the next generation of the 2.5L Atkinson-Cycle I-4 Hybrid engine. The electric motor can propel Fusion Hybrid up to 47 mph on its own power, and combines with the hybrid engine when extra power is needed. Combined power rating is 191 net horsepower. The 2.5L Atkinson-cycle I-4 Hybrid engine features late intake valve closing (iVCT), as well as advancements in processor technology for seamless transitions from gas to electric mode.
Fusion Hybrid delivers plenty of power. And best of all, it's the most fuel-efficient hybrid sedan in America.*
†EPA-estimate 41 City/36 Hwy mpg. Class is mid-size sedan. Actual mileage will vary.
Fusion Hybrid can go up to 47 miles per hour on the power of the electric motor alone. No other hybrid vehicle can match this top speed in EV (electric vehicle) mode. This helps Fusion Hybrid achieve a class-leading 41 miles per gallon in city traffic and 700 miles on a single tank of gas.* And that's an important fact well worth considering when investing in a hybrid vehicle.
*EPA-estimated 41 City mpg. 17.5-gallon fuel tank. Actual mileage will vary.
ncluded in the available Navigation System is the Hybrid Energy Flow Display. It lets you to track the powertrain's four modes of operation - Hybrid Drive, Electric Drive, Gas Engine and Idle Charging - plus overall fuel economy.
When you apply the brakes in a conventional vehicle, kinetic energy is lost to heat due to friction. During braking in the Fusion Hybrid, the electric motor captures 94 percent of this energy that is normally lost and sends it back to the battery pack to be stored for later use. Not only does regenerative braking efficient, but it helps minimize wear on the brake pads, lowering the cost of maintenance.
The available 3.0L Duratec V6 has been updated and puts out more than 19 more horsepower than last year's 3.0L Duratec. What's more, it now has Flex Fuel capability. You can run on unleaded gasoline, E85 (up to 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline) or any mix of the two. So you can fill up wherever you are, even if E85 isn't readily available.
Earth-friendly cloth fabric in the Fusion Hybrid is made from 85 percent post-industrial materials -- polyester fibers that would otherwise have ended up in landfills.
2010 Fusion offers all the great features of the available voice-activated Ford SYNC® System* -- plus two new features: 911 Assist™ and Vehicle Health Report.
With SYNC you can access your music collection on your MP3 player by genre, album, artist or song title and operate your Bluetooth® phone with simple voice commands.* You can even make music selections through your flash drive by voice command.
SYNC gets a major system upgrade with the addition of 911 Assist. Within seconds after airbag deployment, SYNC uses your cell phone connection you programmed into the system to make a call to a local 911 emergency operator. A pre-recorded message will then play when the call is answered, and you'll be able to communicate with the 911 operator.†
Along with 911 Assist™, SYNC will offer a Vehicle Health Report feature. SYNC gathers information from the vehicle's control modules and transmits it through the cell phone connection you programmed into the system to Ford by way of an 800-number. You can receive these health reports free of charge by e-mail or text-message alerts.
SYNC is optional in Fusion SE; standard in Fusion SEL and Sport models and also in the Fusion Hybrid.
*Driving while distracted can result in loss of vehicle control. Only use mobile phones and other devices, even with voice commands, when it is safe to do so. The Bluetooth word mark is a trademark of the Bluetooth SIG, Inc.†The vehicle's electrical system (including the battery), the wireless service provider's signal and a connected mobile phone all must be available operating for 911 Assist™ to function properly. These systems may become damaged in a crash. The paired mobile phone must be connected to SYNC and the 911 Assist feature enabled in order for 911 to be dialed.
The optional voice-activated Navigation System provides more advanced features in the new 2010 Fusion. Navigational aids include detailed freeway exit, turn and ramp transition lane guidance; street name announcement; and current location display. A tutorial built into the display lets you choose one of four data screens for the level of information you want - Inform, Enlighten, Engage or Empower - and explains your options within each. Steering wheel-mounted controls make it all easy. All levels can indicate instant fuel economy; fuel economy history; odometer; engine coolant temperature; plus trip data including fuel economy, time-elapsed fuel economy and miles to empty.
Watch the display grow leaves when you drive efficiently. Or watch them fade when you don't. More leaves = more mpg (up to 41 mpg city). This green motivator works during any of the four display modes.
Your Fusion is engineered to handle with precision and agility. But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy some serious rock ‘n' rolling - which is what the exclusive new optional Sony® Sound System provides. The system features Dolby DAEP 5.1 Surround Sound technology and Sony DSP processing, 390 watts of power, and 12 high-quality premium speakers including two subwoofers. It comes with a 6-disc in-dash CD changer (single disc CD player with available Navigation System) and is, of course, MP3-capable.
Sony is a registered trademark of Sony Electronics, Inc.
The available class-exclusive* BLIS™ (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross Traffic Alert is yet another new innovation available on the 2010 Ford Fusion.
Using two multiple-beam radar modules positioned in the rear quarter panels, the system's radar detects moving objects within a 65-foot range from either side of your vehicle. With BLIS™ (Blind Spot Information System), the radar identifies a vehicle entering the defined blind spot zone and illuminates an indicator LED light on the corresponding side view mirror when you're signaling. The Cross Traffic Alert feature provides an audible warning, as well as an indicator light in the corresponding sideview mirror, that a vehicle is crossing while you're backing out of a parking spot or your driveway.
*Class is mid-size sedans.
Put the gear selector in Reverse and the optional Rear View Camera automatically transmits the image to your rearview mirror (shown), when you're slowly backing up. If your Fusion is equipped with the available Navigation System, the image is shown on the navigation screen.
The class-exclusive Reverse Sensing System uses an audible signal to alert you to an obstacle up to 16 feet at the rear when you're slowly backing up.* The alert sound becomes more frequent and louder the closer the vehicle gets to the object. This is a feature you'll appreciate whether you're in your driveway or in a tight parking lot spot. It's optional in Fusion SE, SEL and Sport models, and standard in the Fusion Hybrid.

Ford designers took an already bold design and made it even more dynamic, from the new power-dome hood to the familiar Ford 3-bar chrome grille that's more pronounced, complementing the more aggressive shape of the hood.
The new quad-beam halogen headlamps do more than illuminate your way at night. Special black bezels and chrome rings on the headlamps help blend into the 3-bar chrome grille, accentuating the bold, dynamic styling of the 2010 Ford Fusion. Notice as well the fog lamps flanking the more aggressive shape of the air dam. Fog lamps come standard on Fusion SE, SEL, Sport and Hybrid.
Pick one of the seven colors in the Ambient Lighting feature to express your mood. You can add colorful accents in the front and rear footwells, front center console bin, and front two cupholders. Ambient Lighting is standard in Fusion SEL and available in the new Sport model with the Electronics Package. It's also standard in the Fusion Hybrid.
Ice Blue backlighting for the instrument cluster and control knobs is one of those small but important touches that contribute to the upscale ambience in the Ford Fusion gas-powered models.
When you see a Light Ice Blue Metallic Fusion, it's an all-new Fusion Hybrid.17" 15-spoke painted aluminum wheels and the Road & Leaf badge are also unique features that say this is a very special Ford Fusion.

Sagaris

Few cars look as dramatic as the new TVR Sagaris. While motorsport is never far from TVR's designers' and engineers' minds, the rigorous demands of the endurance racing arena were also a priority in the Sagaris concept. It has been designed to be the ultimate racing car for the road. Now it is possible to know what it feels like to drive a Le Mans car everyday. Every scoop, every vent might add to the most extraordinarily dramatic lines, but they are all there for a distinct purpose. Lightweight is much talked about by car manufacturers but is rarely achieved in combination with enormous power. Thanks to the rigid tubular steel chassis and extremely light composite bodywork, the Sagaris comes in at just over a tonne. With low drag and downforce producing aerodynamic features at both the front and rear of the car, the styling of the Sagaris works just as well as it looks.

The Sagaris is propelled by the same four-litre 380 bhp engine as the Tuscan S. It is docile in town where it can burble along at low speeds in high gears. But press your right foot into the carpet and you are pushed back into the seat, as the engine howls its way to a red line close to 8,000 rpm. Statistics can be dramatic. 0-60 in 3.7 seconds certainly is. Following extensive research and development in conjunction with fellow experts at Bilstein, the Sagaris' suspension and handling are profound, with unprecedented capabilities. Combined with its rigid tubular steel rollcage and wider track, the Sagaris manages to be an enthralling, hair-raising drive, but a safe one, too

CAYMAN 2009 PORSCHE

http://motogallery.blogspot.com/
The design of the new Cayman models is befitting of their distinctive, sporty character.
Their performance potential is obvious at first sight, for these are true specimens of force and athleticism. Individual styling features help to define both vehicles so impressively.
A constant interaction of convex and concave curves. A certain style, like no other. Immediately, the front displays the kind of character that you expect to find in the new Cayman models. The front end has been restyled with enlarged air intakes that hint at the performance within.
The contouring of the front apron gives the car an even more purposeful appearance. The front spoiler lip has been enlarged, further reducing lift at the front axle.
The front wings with their new, integrated headlights give the Cayman models a distinctively sporty look.
The headlights feature a brand new design. Both models are equipped as standard with halogen headlights, LED position lights and front fog lights integrated into the outer air intakes. Bi-Xenon headlights with dynamic cornering lights, including LED daytime running lights, are available on request.
Follow the car’s clean lines along the side towards the rear, past the newly styled and enlarged exterior mirrors, where the impressive design continues. The styling is emphasised by the distinctly pronounced curves of the front and rear wings and the shape of the doors.
Typically for a coupé, there is a gradual, flowing transition from the A-pillar to the rear. The sharper contour of the side skirts directs the air stream down to the side air intakes which are designed to facilitate considerable through-flow. The rear section of the side windows curves dynamically upwards. Extending beyond the side windows are two additional lines that direct attention towards the rear end. One of these lines continues to frame the large rear screen.
The second line continues its rearward path to the new LED taillight module. The elegant, extendable rear wing further reduces lift at the rear axle.
Below, you cannot miss the visible hallmark of the characteristic Porsche sound: the new stainless steel tailpipe – twin tailpipe on the Cayman S – integrated into the new rear end.
The unmistakable styling of the Cayman models is complemented by the new wheel design. The Cayman is fitted with 17-inch wheels as standard, the Cayman S with 18-inch wheels. A 19-inch option is available for both models.
The result of all of these measures? A unique appearance and refined aerodynamics with a low drag coefficient of only 0.29.
The new Cayman models. Even more sophisticated, even more dynamic, and when it comes to style, they trust in only one direction: their own.

Precisely one attitude is the driving force behind the new Cayman: the absolute conviction to remain true to oneself. No middle roads. No compromises. No nonsense.
One of the features that exemplifies this attitude is the mid-engine layout, which ensures a low centre of gravity and thus a high degree of agility and an extremely sporty drive. The new six-cylinder horizontally opposed power unit has a capacity of 2.9 litres. The engine delivers a power output of 195 kW (265 hp) at an engine speed of 7,200 rpm. A maximum torque of 300 Nm is achieved between 4,400 and 6,000 rpm. From a standing start, the new Cayman accelerates to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.8 seconds. With the optional Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK), this sprint takes just 5.7 seconds.
Top speed is 164 mph (265 km/h) in conjunction with the manual gearbox. The power of the engine is delivered to the road by a precision six-speed manual gearbox. To cope with the increased engine power output, the new Cayman has enlarged brake discs at the front axle for an even shorter braking distance and improved safety. Fitted as standard are 17-inch wheels with a new star-shaped design which allows an eye-catching view of the brake system. And the interior? The overall impression is simply one of high quality. For instance, the rims of all optional steering wheels are covered in smooth-finish leather. The front centre console has been completely restyled and is now finished predominantly in traditional black. The new, integrated CDR-30 audio system with 5-inch display comes as standard and an integrated six-disc CD/DVD autochanger is available as an option.
The new Cayman has found its way. Its own? Without doubt.

The optional PASM is an electronic damping control system. On the new Cayman models, the suspension has been tuned to match the increased power of the engine. PASM actively and continuously regulates the damping force for each wheel according to the road conditions and driving style. In addition, the suspension is lowered by 10 mm.
The driver can select between two different modes: ‘Normal’ which is a blend of performance and comfort, and ‘Sport’ where the setup is much firmer. Depending on the mode selected, therefore, PASM is sportier or more comfortable than the standard chassis. The PASM control unit evaluates the driving conditions and modifies the damping force on each of the wheels in accordance with the selected mode.
Sensors monitor the movement of the vehicle body, for example, under heavy acceleration and braking or on uneven roads. The control unit tunes the dampers to the optimum hardness for the selected mode to reduce roll and pitch still further and to increase contact between each individual wheel and the road.
In ‘Sport’ mode, the suspension is set to a harder damper rating. On uneven roads, PASM immediately switches to a softer rating within the ‘Sport’ setup range, thereby improving contact between the wheels and the road. When the road surface improves, PASM automatically reverts to the original, harder rating.
If ‘Normal’ mode is selected and the driver's style becomes more assertive, PASM automatically switches to a harder rating within the ‘Normal’ setup range. Damping becomes harder, and driving stability and road safety are increased.

Sport Chrono Package. Do you think driving a Porsche should be an even more involving experience than it is already? Your wish is our command. On request, we can equip your vehicle with the Sport Chrono Package, which is available for both of the new Cayman models. Its functions enable even sportier tuning of the engine and chassis and guarantee even more driving pleasure.
Selecting the ‘Sport’ button on the centre console activates ‘Sport’ mode, which makes throttle response significantly more immediate, adjusts the rev-limiter to a harder setting, tunes the engine dynamics for performance driving and activates the optional sports exhaust system.
The optional Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) also switches to ‘Sport’ mode, which offers harder damping and more direct steering and, therefore, better road holding.
With the optional PDK in automatic mode, gearshift points are delayed until the upper rev range. The shift times are shorter, the gear changes sportier. At low rates of deceleration, the system initiates a swifter, brake-induced downshift. In manual mode, gear changes are faster and more dynamic. In ‘Sport’ mode, the PSM system intervenes later for increased longitudinal and lateral dynamics. PSM now affords greater manoeuvrability under braking and exit acceleration, especially at low speeds. For maximum dexterity, PSM can be set to standby while the car is still in ‘Sport’ mode. For safety, it is set to intervene automatically only when ABS assistance is required on both the front wheels.
A key component of the Sport Chrono Package is the swivel-mounted timer in the centre of the dashboard with analogue and digital display.
In combination with Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK), the Sport Chrono Package offers two additional functions that are activated by the Sport Plus button.
First, ‘Launch Control’, which ensures you achieve the fastest possible rate of acceleration from a standing start – on the racetrack, for example. ‘Launch Control’ is operated via the Sport Plus button with the ‘D’ or ‘M’ drive position selected. Whilst the driver depresses the brake pedal with the left foot, the right foot depresses the accelerator pedal to the floor. With the accelerator in the kickdown position, the system detects the driver's request for Launch Mode and revs the engine to an optimum speed of approximately 6,500 rpm. Engine torque increases and the clutch closes slightly. The message ‘Launch Control active’ appears on the instrument cluster display. The driver now quickly releases the brake – and prepares for maximum acceleration.
Second, the ‘motorsport-derived gearshift strategy’. Using this, PDK is geared up for maximum shift speed, the shortest possible shift times and optimum shift points for maximum acceleration – for uncompromising performance.

On request, the new, optional Porsche Communication Management (PCM) can be combined with the Sport Chrono Package Plus. In addition to the functions of the Sport Chrono Package, it includes a personal memory function, which can be controlled using the PCM, and a performance display for evaluating lap times
What use is a perfect suspension setup without perfectly tuned steering? For Porsche, this would be inconceivable. The solution is a steering system that works with as much precision and immediacy as the chassis itself and, thanks to the power assistance, steering effort is reduced to a comfortable level. Around the straight ahead position, such as during motorway driving, the ratio is less direct with no loss of agility or feedback. The greater the steering angle, the more direct the steering ratio. This is particularly noticeable through tight bends and when parking and provides a high level of active safety and a more immediate driving response. The car has a turning circle of just 11.1 m. The steering wheel also adjusts for height and reach.
The new Cayman is fitted with 17-inch wheels as standard. The new star-shaped design expresses sheer sportiness and allows an eye-catching view of the brake calipers. The new Cayman S is fitted with large, 18-inch wheels as standard and the turbine-like arrangement of the spokes gives the car an extremely powerful look. 19-inch wheels are available for both models on request. All available wheels are equipped with anti-theft protection.
The latest optional Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPM) sends warnings to the on-board computer's display screen in the event of low tire pressure. The driver can check the pressure in all four tires from the instrument cluster. The system now updates even faster after an engine start, tire pressure correction or wheel change – for increased comfort and safety.
Are you a fan of sporty driving? In your spare time, do you enjoy the occasional outing on the racetrack? Then you shouldn’t do without the new optional mechanically locking rear differential available in conjunction with 18-inch or 19-inch wheels. It further enhances the traction of the driven rear wheels on uneven roads and when accelerating out of tight bends, and the damping of load-change reactions during fast cornering are reduced. Road holding at the limits of performance is even more impressive. The car holds its course better and so PSM intervenes less often.
In other words, sheer driving pleasure and faster lap times
The new Cayman models follow a clear line. Their own. Even when it comes to the chassis. The driver’s connection to the road is an essential priority at all times, along with the delivery of the engine’s power.
For this reason, the new Cayman models are equipped with a lightweight suspension with transverse links and spring struts, front and rear. The spring and damper unit and the anti-roll bar unit have been further tuned for exceptional driving dynamics and greater driving comfort. During fast lane changes and through tight corners, this chassis is in its element.
Thanks to the mid-engine layout and the construction of the bodyshell, roll and pitch are practically eliminated. The chassis responds with absolute precision to acceleration and braking.
The lightweight construction keeps the vehicle gross weight and the weight of the unsprung masses low. Virtually all moving axle parts are made of aluminium.
Driving stability is excellent, even in the event of considerable load changes – thanks not least to the vehicle's generous track width. High levels of safety and a consistently dynamic driving experience are the result.
